A stray has hit a 17-yr old girl named Rachel Abioye, on Tuesday evening during a protest in Osogbo when angry youths stormed the Government House to protest the death of Remi Idris Ajibola who was allegedly chased to his death by Joint Task Force.
WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that Abioye who is still in hospital after a stray bullet hit her was at the scene of the protest at Government House on Tuesday evening when she saw three youths struggling to seize a gun from a policeman during the protest.
Recounting the near death incident from her hospital bed, she said “As they were dragging the gun, the policeman started shooting so that those guys would not take his gun away from him,
“The policeman was trying to defend himself. I was running to the other side but the bullet hit me.” She said.
On Wednesday, Governor Adegboyega Oyetola who was shocked by Tuesday evening’s sad events has ordered a probe into the death of Ajibola.
Meanwhile, the state Commissioner for Information, Funke Egbemode has reacted to the incident, said “We implore our citizens to trust the Government to get to the bottom of this sad occurrence and do the needful thereafter,”.
