Spanish-born Nigerian forward, Kevin Omoruyi, who will start the Spanish top-flight league with Huesca when the 2021-2022 football season start has said he will Honour the Nigerian Football Federation’s Invitation to play for the Nigeria National team.

According to him “My father has been motivating me to be a great footballer and I want to make him proud by being a top player in LaLiga and would be proud to play for Nigeria if invited. Of course, If Nigeria invites me, I would be very happy to honour the invitation,” he said.

Huesca, who gained promotion to the top division in Spain last season, start their new life with the big boys, with an away fixture against Villarreal on September 13.

Speaking in an interview, the 19-year old striker said he is relishing the opportunity to mix with the likes of Lionel Messi, Sergio Ramos and Karim Benzema.

According to Omoruyi, ”It is a great opportunity to play in LaLiga. I am working very hard every day to improve and to have many playing minutes in La Liga this season”.

Born to a father from Edo State, who runs a thriving business venture in Spain, the talented Omoruyi said he is working to make a successful story of his LaLiga season.

“I am working very hard because I know that the new season is starting very soon. Every day, we trained two times so that we can improve. I am very happy and I want the league to start and hope for a successful campaign.

“I want the best. I want to help the team. I am a striker and if I can do it with goals, I would be very happy and proud. But the first thing is to put up a great performance and try all my best”.

Omoruyi will be playing alongside another Nigerian, Kelechi Nwakali, who was the captain of the Dream Team, as the Nigerian U-23 team are called and he said he has a good relationship with his senior counterpart.

“I have a very good relationship with Nwakali. He is a very good player. We help each other. We are the two Nigerians in the team. We have good times together”, said Omoruyi.

The youngster said his family has played a big role in his fledgling soccer career, pointing out that, family supports me fully. They give me the confidence to go for training and do my best.

“My family helps me a lot even on match days by being there to support the team. They serve as a motivation for me to get up every day to play my best game,” he said.
