A 35-year-old man identified as Mr. Godwin Adeoye has been sentenced to two-year jail term by a Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Lokoja on Wednesday for allegedly planning to bomb the National Assembly and the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).
WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that the suspect who is a native of Okene and resident of Obehira Ihima, Okehi local government area of Kogi State was arrested by the State Security Service on 13th May 2020.
The suspect, Adeoye was arraigned in court over allegations of intimidation and threat to bomb national assets.
The magistrate, A .S Ibrahim noted that Adeoye was sober and pleaded for clemency after realising the enormity of the situation.
He thereafter handed him a two year jail sentence with an option of fine.
In a related story, WITHIN NIGERIA reported that no fewer than six persons have died in a bomb blast, which rocked Malumfashi town in Katsina on Saturday morning.
Another five are unconscious at the General Hospital Malumfashi.
According to a resident of the affected village “the incident happened at about 9:00 am while “one of the victims was in the farm gathering grasses to feed his animals.”
