Instagram star and social media influencer, Sandra Ikeji who could make it into the Guinness Book of World Records for setting a new record with the 200 brides she paraded at her wedding recently is sad. And the reason is not far fetched. It is as a result of the contagion currently ravaging China popularly known as the Coronavirus which as at last count had killed 270 and infected over 12,000 people in China alone with reports of infections in a couple of countries.
probably, she had been already booked to have her honey moon in popular Indonesian resort, Bali but because of the Coronavirus, flight to Bali have either been canceled or disrupted and this greatly affected her plans.
Taking to social media, Sandra Ikeji lamented to her fans for a suggestion on the way forward.
She said: “I am so pained. My #Bali honeymoon is not feasible ‘cos of #coronavirus. What other perfect Island would you suggest? I will read all comments but let’s leave out Asia and Europe.”
She added: “I need a perfect Island for my honeymoon. Hubby canceled #bali last night. No Asia/Europe.”
Meanwhile, the Lagos State government has reacted swiftly to the viral spread of the deadly coronavirus infection. Akin Abayomi, Commissioner of Health in a whatsapp video alerted Lagosians of the dangers of the coronavirus and steps to protect oneself.
He said: “The Coronavirus has affected 17 countries. Symptoms include headache, runny nose, cough, sour throat, fever and difficulty breathing including pneumonia. If you feel you are experiencing any of these symptoms and you have been in contact with people who came from South East Asia, we would like you to present yourself to hospitals. We are ramping up our capacities and our general hospitals are getting more in tune with the situation as we increase surveillance at the airports, build up our emergency operations centers and harmonise our response to this infection.”
Also, the World Health Organization (WHO), today, declared the virus China a global emergency.
Much of Hubei, the epi-centre of the outbreak has been under quarantine with almost every city facing travel restrictions in a province home to nearly 60 million people. More than 20 countries and territories outside of mainland China have confirmed cases of the virus including India, Italy and the Philippines.
