Several bandits killed as troops raid Kaduna forest

The Defence Headquarters on Friday said the Air Component of Operation Thunder Strike destroyed bandits’ meeting venue in Kwaimbana Forest area of Kaduna State.

Several bandits were killed in the incident, which occurred on Thursday.

The Coordinator, Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. John Enenche, who made this in a statement on Friday in Abuja said that the air raid was conducted after series of Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions that revealed the hideout along with a building in the centre of the forest.

Enenche said the Air Component dispatched Nigerian Air Force (NAF) jets and helicopter gunships to attack the location accordingly to engage them.

He said the attack aircraft took turns in engaging the target area, scoring accurate hits which resulted in the damage of the building as well as neutralisation of several bandits.

In the other news, gunmen suspected to be kidnappers abducted several persons, including five members of a family in Barakallahu, a suburb of Kaduna metropolis.

Barkallahu is a community neighboring the National Teachers Institute (NTI), along Kaduna-Zaria road, in Igabi local government area of the State.

It was gathered that, bandits invaded the community at about 1:30am on Friday, shooting sporadically and burgled into a house to kidnap a woman and her four children.
