As Regina Daniels continues to shine after adding several breakthroughs in both career and marital life, the youngster whose mother, Rita Daniels, recently bagged an appointment with People’s Democratic Party (PDP), may be a few steps away from being the first lady of Nigeria if her billionaire husband Ned Nwoko accepts the call from an Igbo group who want him to contest in the 2023 Presidency.
WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that the National President, Coalition of Ethnic Nationalities in Nigeria (CENN), Prince Miaphen, has drummed support for Regina’s husband who is a former member of the House of Representatives, to contest in the 2023 Presidency.
There have been several calls for Igbo President recently. Orji Kalu, a former Abia State governor and the current Senate Chief Whip, on Monday also joined the league of Igbo politicians ready to lead the country after declaring that he would serve as Nigeria’s President if given the opportunity by the electorate.
Support for Ned Nwoko’s candidacy for 2023 Presidential election was disclosed by Coalition of Ethnic Nationalities during a press briefing in Jos, while suggesting that a power shift to the South, particularly South-South or South-East, is in the interest of equity, unity and togetherness.
According to Miaphen, the president of the group, CENN has been shopping for a transparent, trusted and credible candidate. He noted that they have scrutinised and widely beamed their search light on credible Patriots in the South-East and South-South and settled for Prince Nwoko. Miaphen described Nwoko as a lawyer of repute, politician with great finess and an altruistic humanitarian who has championed several sterling causes of global reckoning.
‘He is highly industrious, visionary and very generous.A man of many parts who is well known for his patriotic and philanthropic instincts and a notable Pan- Africanist who is unpretentious about his love for his country and continent.
‘He was a member of the Federal House of Representatives between 1999 and 2003 representing Aniocha North-South and Oshimili North- South. In 2017 and 2019, Prince Ned Nwoko boldly succeeded in securing the Paris club refund for his country, Nigeria.
‘The refund was a relief hugely beneficial to the three tiers of government particularly for the payment of workers, salaries, provision of welfare and some critical social infrastructure.’
‘For all his selfless efforts for a healthier and economically stronger Nigeria and Africa, it will not be out of place to vest our unflinching support on Prince Ned Nwoko for the Presidency of Nigeria come 2023.’ The group’s president said.
If Ned Nwoko welcomes the call for his Presidential ambition, Regina Daniels who is the latest and favorite wife of the billionaire will have the position of the First Lady of Nigeria in view. However, the chances of it happening in 2023 are very low because her husband’s party, PDP, is not the ruling party and chances of Igbo Presidency in Nigeria is narrow as many believes an Igbo President will grant Biafra referendum.
It is important to note that despite low chances of winning because of the fore mentioned criteria, Ned Nwoko will be a threat to other possible aspirants because of his wealth. It is no longer news that money, huge campaign budgets influences votes in Nigeria and this will not be a problem for the billionaire and Philantropist.
