A former Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) Executive Director (ED) identified as Captain Ezekiel Bala Agaba has been sentenced to seven years imprisonment by a Federal High Court in Lagos for laundering N1.5 billion.
WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that the Executive Director of NIMASA, Agaba was in charge of Maritime, Safety and Shipping and allegedly looted the money from the agency.
In a related story, WITHIN NIGERIA reported that President Muhammadu Buhari has reportedly sacked Dakuku Peterside, an ally to the Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi as the Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA).
The President also approved the appointment of the current Executive Director, Administration and Finance, Bashir Jamoh, as the new DG, The Sun report.
Peterside, who was appointed by the Buhari administration in 2016, is expected to end his tenure on March 10, 2020.
