PHOTO: NAPTIP publishes names and photographs of convicted rapists

Names and photographs of some convicted sex offenders on the Nigeria Sex Offender Register have been published by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).

The list of the sex offenders was uploaded on social media platform by the Director-General of NAPTIP, Dame Julie Okah-Donli.

According to the Director General of NAPTIP, the agency is determined to start naming and shaming all sex offenders.

She also revealed that more names of sex offenders would be published once they are convicted.

The list comprises of names of ten males, their offences, addresses and the year in which they were convicted.

All the ten males were all arraigned on charges of incest and rape.

In a related story, WITHIN NIGERIA reported that the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has disclosed that no fewer than 40 cases involving domestic and sexual violence, sexual abuse of minors, rape, incest, sodomy are presently under investigation.

According to the agency, these cases were recorded during the five weeks lockdown ordered by President Muhammadu Buhari as part of measures to curb the spread of the deadly virus, Coronavirus.
