The arrest of a bus driver and eight passengers has been effected by Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal for violating the state border closure directive.
WITHIN NIGERIA reported that the Sokoto State Governor ordered the closure of the state’s borders to check the spread of Coronavirus.
The arrest was disclosed by the Governor’s special adviser on media and public affairs, Muhammad Bello.
Bello revealed that Tambuwal was on his way back from Tureta Local Government Area bordering Sokoto and Zamfara states when he flagged down a vehicle, only to discover it was a commercial bus conveying passengers out of the state.
All passengers of the bus are to be interrogated to know their culpability and would be charged to court as directed by the governor.
Three vehicles with 18 passengers and their drivers were also intercepted by the state Joint Task Force on COVD-19 lockdown, for defying the lockdown directive.
